TAKING A CUE FROM SALMAN KHAN IN PARTNER, YOUTH TURN TO LOCAL LOVE GURUS FOR ADVISE ON HOW TO HANDLE THEIR LOVE LIVES

Who says films don't replicate our lives? When Sallu (Salman Khan) can play love guru to Chi Chi (Govinda) in the movie Partner, he has inspired youngsters to turn to their friends to seek advice on relationships.

A student of BBM at Wigan Leigh College says that he seeks only his close friends' advice in matters of the heart. "I discuss such issues only people with whom I trust completely. My girlfriend and I used to keep fighting because we didn't get to spend much time together. I sought my close friend's advice because I was in a dilemma whether I should continue with this strained relationship. My friend advised me to take things slowly. He told me to spend quality time with her wherever we met and not fight over the time that she doesn't give our relationship. I followed his advice and now, things between us are going smooth."

Siddharth, an engineering student feels that he has been unlucky in love. People mistook him for a Casanova but he denies being one. He's a hit amongst his friend's circle because he's a charmer and knows exactly how to woo a girl.

"Ever since my inter days, I've had many girlfriends but couldn't stick to any. I am so experienced now, that I don't need anybody's advice. In fact, all my friends come to me for advice," he says.

Kapur, a BA (Mass Communication) student at St. Mary's College says that he seeks his mom's advice because she's his best buddy. "Recently, I was hitting on a girl and wanted to chat with her. I didn't know how to start a conversation, so I asked my mom as to what I could talk to her about. Mom suggested that I break the ice by discussing books and let things evolve gradually. So, I did just that," he says.

Lydia, a student of RM College says that she seeks her older sister's advice, as she knows what is best for her. "The other day, a guy asked me out, and I was unsure about whether I should accept his proposal. I spoke to my sister about this and described this guy in detail. My sister gave me the green signal, so I started dating him."

Students sure have their gurus sorted out.

Team India coach Greg Chappell was attacked by a member of the so-called “Kalinga Sena” at Bhubaneswar airport on Monday. Chappell escaped unhurt. The superintendent of police of Bhubaneswar, Mr Amitabh Thakur, said some members of the outfit had assembled outside the airport to “highlight the issue that no player from Orissa has been selected for the national team.” One of them turned violent.
