Eye-Fi Wireless Photo Sharing SD Memory Card
Eye-Fi Wireless Photo Sharing SD Memory Card Wins “The Last Gadget Standing” Award at CES Winning the Last Gadget Standing Award is a prestigious honor, because it's voted on by the attendees at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The 2008 winner of the award is the Eye-Fi wireless photo transfer SD memory card. This device looks like a regular SD memory card, but it's able to transfer photos from your digital camera to your computer/laptop) instantly and wirelessly.
It can be a hassle sometimes to transfer photos from your digital camera to your computer, because you usually have to either take out the SD card and put it into the computer's SD card slot, or mess around with USB cables. The Eye-Fi, on the other hand, eliminates the need for cables or the need to remove your SD card. The Eye-Fi is basically just a 2 GB SD memory card with built-in WiFi capabilities that allow you to wirelessly transfer photos from any digital camera to any computer (with the included software installed of course).
Eye-Fi SD card and the USB plug-in for the computer/laptop Eye-Fi SD card and the USB plug-in for the computer/laptop Not only will the Eye-Fi transfer photos to your computer, but it is also able to transfer photos to your favorite photo sharing sites such as Flickr, Snapfish, or Facebook. Again, this is all done with no wires or cables, and there aren't even any buttons or controls to push on your digital camera or computer in order for the wireless transfer to take place - it's all automatic.
It's no surprise that the Eye-Fi won the 2008 Last Gadget Standing Award at CES, because it's easy to see how useful this product can be. This little "WiFi card" is relatively affordable too at about $99. As far as I know, the Eye-Fi is only available in a 2GB version, but I'm sure that higher capacity versions will be available soon.
